Tae Kwon Do

TAE KWON DO

General Hong Hi Choi developed and promoted this Olympic event.  Tae Kwon Do is the Korean National Sport and is the most popular Martial Art in the world. It is characterized by fast, high and spinning kicks. Tae Kwon Do means the way of the hand and foot.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

In simple terms, Mixed Martial Arts is just that.  It allows for the combination, switching and blending of various "pure" disciplines by one or both opponents.  Many techniques are allowed yet restricting or disallowing others due to the risk of injury inherent in them.

Kodokan Judo, an Olympic event since 1964, was developed in 1882 by Jigoro Kano from the Japanese martial art Jujutsu which was practiced during the Edo period (1603-1868) and included throws, grappling and submissions techniques.

Hap Ki Ye is an advanced system of self defense utilizing the positioning and movement of the opponent.  This Martial Art is currently reserved for upper rank Taekwondoists.
